This 5 hour course has been designed to review the skills and knowledge previously acquired in the introduction course. Emphasis is on leadership and crisis management.

Lecture and practical training are conducted to rehearse abandonment, survival and rescue skills.

CUSTOMIZED WATER SURVIVAL TRAINING

This customized course in offshore survival is designed by “you” to have it your way. It provides the safety manager the freedom to develop and create a specific course to meet definite company training requirements. If you want lecture only, review of company over water safety policies or just hands on training, you make the decisions.

HELICOPTER PILOT AND AIRCREW SURVIVAL TRAINING

The key essentials of this course is to provide the pilot/aircrew with the necessary information required to successfully survive an intentional/unintentional water crash. As aviation personnel that frequently fly passengers, this course provides guidelines for emergency evacuation. Both lecture and in-water training take place.

FISHING VESSEL DRILL CONDUCTOR TRAINING

This USCG approved course is designed to help commercial fishermen meet the Federal requirement 46CFR28.270 © conduct required monthly emergency drills. Upon completion, participants will nationally certified Drill Conductors.

USCG APPROVED F/V DRILL CONDUCTOR TRAINING 

To help commercial fishermen meet the Federal requirement 46CFR 270 (c) , McMillan Offshore Survival Training is offering a 1 day USCG approved fishing vessel drill conductor course. Upon completion , participants will be nationally certified to conduct the required monthly on board emergency drills. 46CFR 270 states: “The master or individual in charge of each vessel must ensure that drills are conducted & instruction is given to each individual on board at least once each month. Instruction and drills must ensure that each individual is familiar with their duties and their responses to at least the following contingencies. 

  1. Abandoning the vessel
  2. Fighting a fire in different locations on board the vessel
  3. Recovering an individual from the water
  4. Minimizing the affects of unintentional flooding
  5. Launching survival craft and recovering lifeboats and rescue boats
  6. Donning immersion suits and other wearable personal flotation devices
  7. Donning a fireman’s outfit and self-contained breathing apparatus, if vessel is equipped
  8. Making a voice radio distress call and using visual distress signals
  9. Activating the general alarm
  10. Reporting inoperative alarm systems and fire detection systems. 

WHAT TO BRING: In water training takes place so participants are requested to bring their survival suits. Suits can be provided if necessary for students. This course has been designed for the swimmer and non-swimmer alike. We also encourage participants to bring any equipment that they would like to review or discuss in class. ( EPIRB’s, distress flares etc.) 

COST OF PROGRAM: The fee for the drill conductor course is $150.00 per participants. This fee includes the following:

  2. Drill Conductor Checklist ( Fire, Abandon Ship, Flooding, Man Overboard)
  3. Station Bill Guidelines 
  4. Vessel Safety Orientation 
  5. Drill Conductor National Certification Group rates are available.
